FACT FILE :
* Michael's mother is actress 'Phyllis Fox'.
* He changed his name from Michael Andrew Fox to Michael J. Fox because he didn't want to be known as Michael A Fox, as in "is a Fox". He adopted the "J." as a homage to character actor Michael J. Pollard.
* In the late 70's Michael went to school in Vancouver, Canada, with singer Bryan Adams.
* Michael appeared in a few films before achieving success on TV, Disney's Midnight Madness (1980) & the violent school film "Class of 1984" (1982).
* It wasn't until 1982 that Fox shot to fame as Alex P. Keaton on the TV sitcom "Family Ties". The series ran until 1989, winning Fox three Emmy awards.
* It wasn't long before Michael moved his success from the small screen to the big-screen when he starred as time-traveler Marty McFly in the blockbuster "Back To The Future" trilogy(1985,1989,1990).
* Michael was listed as 1 of 12 "Promising New Actors of 1985" in John Willis' Screen World.
* Fox is married to actress Tracey Pollan who played his girlfriend on "Family Ties." They have 3 children: Schuyler Frances & Aquinnah Kathleen (twins born: 1995) & Sam (born: 1989)
* During the 90's Michael starred in a number of moderately successful comedies including: The Hard Way (1991), Doc Hollywood (1991), For Love or Money (1993), Greedy (1994), The American President (1995), & Mars Attacks (1996).
* In 1996 Michael left the big-screen & returned to television in the hit series "Spin City".
* Michael revealed in December 98 to "People" magazine that he had be suffering with Parkinson's disease since 1991.
* In January 2000 he announced he was leaving 'Spin City' because of Parkinson's disease.
* Michael & Tracy are expecting their fourth child in December 2001.
* Michael continues to work lending his voice to a number of successful children's films .
